So I got to meet the brain behind The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, and not only does she have a wicked sense of humor and a hearty laugh, she is BEAUTIFUL. What you see on camera really doesn’t do her justice when you see her in person. Her father is from Senegal, so…’nuff said.

I don’t think Issa will mind that I share a little bit about her. She has four siblings and her father is a doctor. She graduated from Stanford University and majored in Political Science and African American Studies. Papa Rae complains, “All this money for college and for what?! You major in flowers!” OMG when she said that I almost coughed out my chicken and waffles. He really, really wanted all his four kids to be in the medical field. Sorry, Papa Rae, but if it’s any consolation, I think you’ll soon be walking around like a peacock about the successs your daughter, who majored in “flowers” is about to get.
