Last night I decided to straighten my hair to change my look up a bit while filming “Swirlr.” You guys know I’m all about rocking my ‘fro, because its great camouflage for scraggly ends…which I have an abundance of. But because I’m a hopeless procrastinator and didn’t have time for a trim, I needed to use some really fortifying products that would clean my hair, beef it up with some protein, and stave off too much breakage. Enter Carol’s Daughter…the Monoi Anti-Breakage line.
I know that Carol’s Daughter has had a few run-ins with the natural hair community for a variety of reasons. And I’ll admit I was influence by the negative reports. But then Carol’s Daughter came on sale at Hautelook at a lot cheaper than what it was selling for at Sephora, so I decided to give it a go, and I’m so glad I did.
The two standouts of this line that I’ve tried so far are the Monoi Repairing Conditioner and Monoi Repairing Anti-Breakage Spray.
First the conditioner: At first blush, I thought the formula was a little thin. But I slathered it on and let it sit with a heat cap. I immediately felt it’s effectiveness because I noticed less hair coming out when I detangled. My hair also felt soft and strong.
The Anti-Breakage Spray: LOVE IT. LOVE. I used the spray in two ways: after I damp-dried my hair and before I blow dried, and then before I flat ironed, piece by piece. My hair felt soft, straightened well, and finished like butter. I really was amazed. Maxi Me tried it too and had similar results. The company is reporting that this is the Number One anti-breakage system in America, and after trying it, I don’t doubt it.
Have any of you tried the Monoi line? What’s been your experience?
