Uhm…I guess some folks might be getting scared.
Just a day before Straight Outta Compton reaches theaters, Dr. Dre gives a half-assed “apology” for beating, shooting, and being an all around general asshole to black women to Rolling Stone magazine.
“I made some fucking horrible mistakes in my life. I was young, fucking stupid. I would say all the allegations aren’t true – some of them are. Those are some of the things that I would like to take back. It was really fucked up. But I paid for those mistakes, and there’s no way in hell that I will ever make another mistake like that again.”
“Paid” for your mistakes? How did you do that, Dr. Dre? Because usually when a man fires a gun within inches of a woman’s head and beats the hell out of a member of the media, they do jail time for attempted murder and felonious assault. Please tell us when you did this alleged hard time in which you say you have paid. We will wait.
If any of you need to be told explicitly, this is a hail-mary response to growing sentiment that abusive men who call black women bitches and hoes shouldn’t be expected to get money from them to further enrich their lavish lifestyles built on misogyny and utter contempt of black womanhood. Dr. Dre is scared that the ‘Mammy Patrol’ might be thinning, thus a need to throw us some non-apology to lure non self respecting women to once again, give her resources and loyalty to a group of men who hate their guts, but need them nonetheless.
In the same interview, Ice Cube stays true to his head-up-the-assedness:
“If you’re a bitch, you’re probably not going to like us,” he says. “If you’re a ho, you probably don’t like us. If you’re not a ho or a bitch, don’t be jumping to the defense of these despicable females. Just like I shouldn’t be jumping to the defense of no punks or no cowards or no slimy son of a bitches that’s men. I never understood why an upstanding lady would even think we’re talking about her.”
Are you serious, you idiot? Your “definition” of “bitch” is so fluid as to include any and all women at any and all given times. Stop trying to drive a wedge between women silly enough to believe you think they’re special and not like “those bitches.” I’m jumping to the defense of those “despicable females” because any time, according to you, a woman who does not do the following:
Kiss your ass and tell you you’re right about everything;
Allow you to use her body and host a train for your homies;
Buy all your music and products eagerly and with glee;
Have the nerve to not be light skinned,
Have the nerve to have kinky hair,
Have the nerve to be authentically black,
Stay silent as you drag the honor and humanity to black women as you trash and ruin our image globally;
Make you a sandwich after sucking your slong;
Uplift the black men who wouldn’t piss on her if she were on fire;
Give you all her money and crank out a bunch of illegitimate babies while you play X Box all day
IS A BITCH.
If you complain about mistreatment, express a full range of emotions, call out bullshit, where red lipstick on a Tuesday or prefers green apples over red apples can and does get that label, and stop insulting our intelligence. There is no distinction. Basically anything you do that these assholes don’t like will get you labeled a bitch, as he knows damn well.
Swiped this from For Black Women Only Facebook:
So if Dr. Dre’s faux apology and Ice Cube’s defiance and use of gas lighting techniques have convince you to part with your money so they can beat you some more, then go right ahead. I’ll be keeping my dark skinned, nappy-headed, bitchy, hoey dollars to my self.
Best believe that was strategic, ya’ll. They didn’t sit down with Essence or The Grio to say this crap. He picked a high-profile publication with a majority white, male audience. Three guesses on why they did this. Go.
