By now you might have heard that The Talk co-host, Aisha Tyler is breaking up from Jeff Tietjens, her husband of over 20 years.

She wanted to do the divorce private. Unfortunately, Aisha Tyler says on The Talk today, that there are people who “perch at the courthouse always looking for dirt,” and released the news this passed weekend about the divorce before she had a chance to make an announcement.

“My husband and I met when I was a teenager. He has been the person who has influenced and cared for me through most of my life. It’s hard when you love someone very much to realize that you want something very different for your lives.” She doesn’t get into specifics, but Tyler has admitted that the couple has struggled with conceiving a child.

Aisha and her husband separated over a year ago last January, she says. “But we were really trying, and fighting to stay together, which is why I didn’t talk about it.”

Critics have said that Aisha is a hypocrite for not discussing her divorce, since she and the other co-hosts on The Talk regularly discuss the marriages, break ups and hook ups of celebrities. “When it was clear we were going to break up, I wanted to protect him. He didn’t choose this life, I chose this life. It’s very unfair to drag someone into this world if they don’t want any part of it.”

She was tearful and clearly in pain as she said, “I love him. I will always love him.” Her tearful admittance was met with a standing ovation after one person in the audience cried, “We love you, Aisha!”

She closed with, “I don’t in any way see this relationship as a failure. We had an extraordinary love affair that lasted 25 years of my life. We did it exactly right. Even thought we are separated all I want for him is joy.”

Her marriage has lasted a lot longer than the average Hollywood marriage, and we wish them both the best.
