By now you all know I’m a sucker for a good pink. The weekend, after taking the little princess to see Cinderella…
…We went to Sephora, which is basically crack in merchant form for makeup addicts. I asked the make up artist to show me a lipstick that would give me that come-hither, sex-kitten look all the ladies are sporting on Instragram these days.
Danni, a transgendered makeup artist hit it out of the park on the first try with a shade by Bobbi Brown and a liner from SMASHBOX. First came the liner, then the color, and my lips went POP…
The liner: SMASHBOX; “Figgy” which is slightly darker than the lips shade $20
The color: Bobbi Brown, “Pink Gold Shimmer” $26
I was excited because I knew I’d be able to contribute another color to #ThePaintedLipsProject, an ingenious project undertaken by the brilliant and beautiful, Shana Moore, 27.
I spoke with Shana this afternoon, and I’ve got to say I love her enthusiasm. She started the project because she felt that black women of a darker hue were underrepresented by major make up manufacturers. The premise is simple: Shana shares lipstick shades that work well on her skin tone, and invites other black women to share their favorites, and if they create videos and their favorites, she’ll share them on her You Tube channel, and if there’s photos, they’re shared through the hashtag, #ThePaintedLipsProject across social media.
Have some favorite shades you’d like to share under the has tag? Beyond Black &White is going to throw in their support and give away “FLASHY,” by Mineral Fusion my first contribution to the project, to anyone who posts their favorite shade here and under the hashtag. Ready, set, SHARE!!!
