Do yourself a favor and try to think of 5th Avenue shopping as an extension of the museum district. Look, but do not buy. Anyone who shops on 5th does so because they own an orchard of money trees. That area has super-high rent so none of the stores are trying to give you any significant discounts. Okay; maybe they’ll give you 1% off if you spend $5,000. Most of the stores on 5th can be found in other places in the city with better prices and more deals. My favs are Juicy Couture (don’t shop the one of fifth! they have others), Anthropology, and Free People. The red dress I’m wearing was on sale at Anthropology for $40, marked down from over $100.
