I’ll admit I’m very apprehensive of bargain-priced straighteners, so I’ll have to get out in advance that I wouldn’t have tried this brush straightener from Head Kandy without being asked. I’m of the school that assumes the more expensive the straightening product, the quicker it does it’s job so I can reduce the amount of heat and mechanical damage.
The stats:
– Constant Heat: Max 450℉.
– Auto keep constant temperature at 365℉ for all types of hair.
– Customized set 410℉ for naturally textured hair, 450℉ for thick or wavy hair, meaning you’ll have effortless and efficient straightening styling.
– Ceramic Iron Straightener + Detangling Brush + Anion Head Massager.
– ANTI SCALD design means you can be worry free from burning your fingers and hands.
Luckily I had just washed my hair the day before receiving this product, and allowed it to air dry in a ponytail. I took small sections of my hair and finger detangled and gently ran the brush from bottom to top until I achieved my desired straightness. And although the product heats up to 450 degrees, I kept it at 400.
It took me about an hour to do my whole head, because I was being careful about reducing mechanical damage associated with detangling tightly coiled hair.
The brush bristles appear to be seamless, so you don’t have to worry about the edges tearing at your hair fibers. You can get close to the scalp without burning yourself or the person you’re working on, but it’s pretty difficult to get your hair completely straight at the roots at the top of your head, but it’s close enough for me.
Keep in mind, that if you have tightly coiled or kinky hair, you shouldn’t expect your hair to get bone straight. I compare this apparatus to getting a really good blow out with now follow up press-and-curl or flat iron.
For $59.99, I’d say it’s a pretty good bargain. But I’ve seen cheaper version on Amazon for around $30.
