Unlike Beyonce, I don’t wake up looking like this. There’s a lot that goes into having camera-ready skin. It’s funny, because I never thought that I’d have to be concerned about such things, but here I am…into my 40s and appearing on You Tube, cable networks, and perhaps sometime in the future, network television.
I’m going to be 42 in July, and I’m proud of the way I look. I’m still getting carded for alcohol and folks tell me regularly that I look decades younger. It’s important for me to make sure you understand that it’s not all about the makeup–a good diet with lots of greens and fruits and regular exercise works miracles.

Notable items I mention:
Hyaluronic acid is the beauty darling of the season, and many products contain the ingredient at various prices. I prefer this formula, and at only $14, it’s way cheaper than most of the stuff out there. You can get it here.
Mally’s Perfect Prep Poreless Primer is pretty expensive…but it’s amazing. I don’t apply it all over my face; just on the problem areas along my cheeks where the pores appear a bit larger than I like. I purchased mine at ULTA for $45, but I see you can purchase directly on the site for $35. Click here.
Perfect Prep Hydrating Eye Brightener is pretty amazing, and a little goes a long way. You only need a little at the tip of finger to more than cover your eye area. This is an excellent product for black women who have hyper pigmentation around their eyes…it totally neutralizes the dark areas.
Argan Brightening Face Balm: jury is still out on this…I’m not sure I’d buy it again, but it does give a nice luminous effect and I’m going to try it out with my light-side makeup look when I’m poolside and out in the sun. It’s got some nice, natural ingredients, so it’s worth a mention.
You can get the my bb cream combo product referenced here.
