…to get downright Diane Ross about it. Of course, watch for cultural cues, like, if family members only air kiss one another, or if hugging’s frowned upon. You don’t want to act too familiar. But you know what? I’ve never gone wrong with a smile and a hand on the shoulder to communicate gratitude. For example, if your honey translates a compliment on your hair/outfit/whatever, and the compliment-giver stands there waiting for you reaction, smile, put a hand on their shoulder and say ‘thank you’. You don’t have to do too much. Simple, well-placed physical contact communicates warmth.
