You might not be aware, but over 200 Nigerian girls were kidnapped from school by radical Islamists (it’s always them, isn’t it?) over two weeks ago, and recent reports says that the group, called Boko Haram, is selling the girls off as brides for as low as $12. And I keep trying to figure out why I haven’t heard 24-hour news coverage about this mass, felonious act, and I think I know why.

It’s hard for me to admit this, but I know in my heart and without any doubt that if these girls had golden curls and azure-colored eyeballs there would be army raids, drones, Navy Seals and the Foreign Legion coming to their rescue. Why? Because white men value their female progeny. Say what you want about patriarchy, but if you compare the way white, westernized men treat women as a whole and the way just about every other non-white nation–Pakistan, all African countries, India, China–and you’ll see the men value and protect their women way less as a collective. What is more, white, westernized men DEMAND that other races of men protect and defend their female progeny, and will rally, raid, bribe, murder, and torture for their women. What is more, white men will police each other’s behavior through laws, and protect women with government resources. If those poor Nigerian girls were white, there would be U.N. conferences and demands and threats made until every last girl was returned to her family or someone would have a scud missile up his ass.

No foreign help. Only a scattering of Nigerian troops. No international intervention. Nothing.

What I’m seeing in Nigeria is probably what happened centuries ago–blacks selling each other off for slavery to the highest bidder. Think whites were evil? What do you think of the people who facilitated those sales in the motherland? Not so far fetched when you see it happening in real time, is it?

Samson Dawah was nervous. For two weeks, he had waited for any bit of information regarding his niece, who was among the 234 Nigerian school girls likely kidnapped by the terrorist group Boko Haram. This week, he gathered his extended family. He had news but also an unusual request. He asked that the elderly not attend. He wasn’t sure they could bear what he had to say.

“We have heard from members of the forest community where they took the girls,” he told them. ”They said there had been mass marriages and the girls are being shared out as wives among the Boko Haram militants.”

The girl’s father fainted, the Guardian reported, and has since been hospitalized. But the news got worse. Village elder Pogo Bitrus told Agence France Presse locals had consulted with “various sources” in the nation’s forested northeast. “From the information we received yesterday from Cameroonian border towns our abducted girls were taken… into Chad and Cameroon,” he said, adding that each girl was sold as a bride to Islamist militants for 2,000 naira — $12. When I read stuff like this, I feel like falling to my feet and kissing the ground I was born on. Thank God I’m not a poor, defenseless African girl.

UPDATE: Okay let’s hold the so-called “Black Media” accountable. As of a quick Google search, it looks like the NONE of the usual “black” outlets have covered it except Hello Beautiful. Not The Root. Not Madame Noire. Not Bossip. Not Media Take Out. Not The Grio. Not BET. Too busy reporting on the Real Housewives of Atlanta??!

If I’m wrong, tell me. I doubt it though. How do you get the ‘Black Media Collective’ to care about 200 black girls being kidnapped and sold for $12? Tell them white people did it.

Everyone remember the mass mouth foaming of Donald Sterling in terms of media coverage? Now take a moment to think about all the news you’ve heard about 200 black girls being kidnapped and sold for $12 and tell me with a straight face that black men aren’t seen as more important.
