It’s Thanksgiving eve and the mass execution of turkeys is done, and the carcass safely nestled in your refrigerator. But before you gorge yourself, grab a can of pumpkin puree–the one you’ve stocked up on so you can make dessert–a create a healthy and filling smoothie.

Pumpkin Spice Green Smoothie
serves 2
Ingredients:
3/4 cup pumpkin puree
1 tablespoon Barlean’s Flax Seed Oil
2 large handfuls greens of your choice–beet greens, shard, spinach, lettuce, (light on the kale; collards not recommended)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Sweetener, such as stevia, honey or maple syrup to taste
1 cup almond milk
2 handfuls of ice
*For a protein boost, you can substitute the vanilla extract for a scoop of vanilla-flavored protein powder
Directions:
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender, and blend until liquified. Adjust sweetness and spice to taste, if necessary, then serve immediately!
