Lately I’ve been oscillating between wearing my hair out and putting it up so I won’t be so tempted to manipulate it too much. I like to play up my face a little bit more when my hair is up, and amp my makeup game with some contouring, false eyelashes, and a pop of color.
I’m really loving how the 100% Pure brown powder foundation and the Au Naturale Creme Foundation in Goa work to give me a golden tone with a bit of bronze. The pop or the lipstick from Canadian company, Elate (click on the heart in the interactive photo to visit the site) was a winner for me. I think it’s because “Wild” is a purple with yellow undertones that don’t clash with my own golden undertones. For a 100% natural lipstick, it packs a punch with pigment, glides on smooth, and has staying power. But because I really wanted my lips to be the focus, I primed them first with a natural lip primer from Gabriel Cosmetics. I creates a flat, opaque surface to act as a canvas to the lipstick and also works to extend the color.
I went really light on the makeup with my eyes, and just put a bit of grey shadow, black liner, and false eyelashes.
As for my hair, I used a wide band scarf I got from Free People. I absolutely LOVE these. They’re like scarves you don’t have to tie. Then I left a little hair at the top of my head out and rolled them into mini buns.
Here’s how it looks from the back…
