It was bound to happen at the Republican National Congress, wasn’t it? Bigots and racists find a comfy, fluffy place to nest in the GOP, and while the guys in charge probably find them annoying and embarrassing, they are tolerated because, frankly, those old geezers need their votes. The hillbilly racists are the party’s “Crazy Uncle Larry” who comes to functions ranting and smelling of whiskey. You keep him around because he’s family and holds the deed to grandma’s 10 acres.  And let’s be honest–racists are part of the Republican family. Just like rabid tree-hugger commies are the “Crazy Aunt Ethels” of the Democratic party.

So I don’t think anyone was surprised when news about to convention attendees threw peanuts as a black female camera operator and said, “This is how we feed animals.”

I swear. Every time, EVERY TIME I try to give these guys the benefit of the doubt…

Republicans, this is why you can’t EVER get people like me, black, educated, successful, conservative(ish), living in an affluent community. (I know you want me, but you can’t have me!!) Even though I find many of the Democratic policies annoying as hell, I’ll take them over a party that’s the bastion of whiskey-drinking, pocked-nosed racists. You folks can’t have it both ways. You can’t ask for our votes, money and support while you incubate the folks who despise us. But that’s your loss, boo-boo (as in, fool!).  You keep letting opportunity after opportunity pass to make inroads in an America which will look less like you and more like my kids.

It’s a shame too, because you make Democrats so damn lazy. They can go into the hood and say, “Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah” (and I mean, LITERALLY say “blah”) and rest assured they’ll get the minority vote. Dems don’t have to do shite but sit for five minutes until the next time you let Crazy Larry out of his cage.

I’ll just stay right where I am. Lukewarm and independent.
