Hmmpf………. You see what I did right there? I may have outdone myself this time. You might have thought I was trying to imply something else!? Get your mind out of the gutter, people, this weeks Man Candy Monday inductee is professional surfer Kelly Slater.

Robert Kelly Slater (born February 11, 1972, Cocoa Beach, Florida, US) is an American professional surfer known for his competitive prowess and style. He has been crowned ASP World Tour Champion a record 11 times, including 5 consecutive titles from 1994–98. He is the youngest (at age 20) and the oldest (at age 39) to win the title. Upon winning his 5th world title in 1997, Slater passed Australian surfer Mark Richards to become the most successful champion in the history of the sport. In 2007 he also became the all-time leader in career event wins by winning the Boost Mobile Pro event at Lower Trestles near San Clemente, California.

He’s a former Baywatch cast member, and was also the youngest, and is now the oldest person to hold the title of ASP World Tour champion after having dominated the sport for the last two decades.

He hold a Master’s degree in Criminal Law from Sydney University, and is a vocal advocate for suicide prevention. He’s appeared in media ads promoting “Athletes Talk” to encourage competitive types to open up about their feelings. Tough people don’t buckle easily but that can also make one think they are supposed to consistently be invincible. I was pleased to find out that he’s empathetic to the feelings of others even though he is quite a type A personality himself.

He’s an 2nd handicapped golfer, a Jiu-Jitsu blue belt and a guitarist who plays with Pearl Jam from time to time.

I can’t swim, so the fact that he can do something I absolutely cannot (EEEK!) makes him all the more sexy to me. I love a man who can teach me news things, and by now you must’ve figured out that I am also very athletic and desire men who move their bodies in unique ways.

I know I can learn to swim, to surf, and then maybe one day, join him and we can do this? Anything is possible, especially when the person you love will make sure you are okay. So then all you have to do is ride the waves, and know that you’ll survive them no matter what comes your way.

He’s giving me David Beckham and some Jason Statham with a little 007. Maybe that’s just my imagination but I would get lost in his eyes any day. He is the father of a teenage daughter, so us more mature ladies will have to handle this one, since he’s ‘an older man’ for some of you younger bunnies.

Age ain’t nothing but a number, I say, so pardon me for not caring to check the expiration date on this sexy beach bum. Any man that can gaze at me with piercing cats eyes such as these at least deserves a chance to get his feet wet.
