New Study Reveals Black Women Viewed as “Masculine;” Asian Men Sterotyped “Feminine.” How This Affects Swirling.

Well…DAMN!

No; It’s Not All In Our Heads

I can’t speak for why Asian men have been saddled with being labeled effeminate, so I won’t. If the Asian readers want to chime in on this conversation, have at it. But I can most certainly speak on why black women are burdened with this stereotype, and it comes from 400 years of slavery and the subsequent fallout. From a physical standpoint, African Americans are known to be physically strong with a *strong proclivity for sex.* Black slaves where wholly dehumanized and treated like cattle. Black women were Jezebels and deserved to be raped and abused. You had to be strong (aka masculine) or you would die. Take that mentality to the hood, and it still rings true. If you aren’t “hard,” you make yourself vulnerable to all sorts of abuse. “Soft” is not celebrated in the hood, regardless of your sex.

Asian women are viewed by all racial groups as the most feminine, according to the Columbia study.

As for solutions, don’t hold your breath on black men running to our defense, crying foul about black women seen as she-he’s. This stereotype wholly benefits them. Same advice goes to the Asian guys, because my guess is that Asian women will be more than fine with being seen as the most feminine and delicate of flowers. This my friends, is an example of privilege. Don’t expect the holders of that privilege to give that up without a fight.

Phuck it. Let the Asian guys and the black chicks get together.

Now THAT’S what I call “yin and yang!”

Can our image be repaired?

I certainly think so, but it will take time.
