The world of high tech military espionage thriller fans lost one of the greats Tuesday when Tom Clancy died. He wrote over 100 books and consulted on video games. The works I was most familiar with are The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears as they were all blockbuster movies. Another “Jack Ryan” film will be released later this year and another book Command Authority will be released on December 3, 2013.
Of the thousands of fans with eyes glued to the big screen of any Clancy film, few knew that he was a swirler. A few uninformed folks even accused Clancy of being a racist. Clancy’s widow is bombshell beauty Alexandra Llewellyn Clancy, a freelance journalist, business woman and philanthropist. She is the creator of Love Alex, a lux collection of fashion accessories. Alex is the daughter of J. Bruce Llewellyn, millionaire and owner of the Philadelphia Coca Cola Bottling Company (along with Bill Cosby and Julius Irving). His worth was valued at 160 million. Alexandra clearly did not need to marry Clancy for money in case anyone wondered due to their age difference. Alex was 32 and Clancy was 53 when they married. The couple was introduced by Gen. Colin Powell. Tom and Alex Clancy have a daughter named Paige.
