China and Japan are in a gender crisis. After decades of the “one child policy” in China and subsequent mass abortions and baby killings of females, they are now reaping what they’ve sown. Now, there are 33 million more Chinese men than women. India mirrors the gender crisis, with 37 million more men than women. Now the countries are scrambling to fix a problem that is sure to get worse before it gets better, and the sexual frustration that single men feel is putting girls and women in real, physical danger.
Therein lies the takeaway: patriarchy, while beneficial to dudes in most ways, ends up oppressing everybody,” says Drake Baer, author of the article originally published in Tech Insider.
Restrictive gender roles and a general disregard for women isn’t a winning combination in a modern society, and we’re seeing it play out in real time. Sexual frustration and little marriage prospects breed dangerous men who have little to lose. Oppressive patriarchy sanctioned by the government is a lethal combination. Say what you will about the West, but compare countries like China and India and pretty much all of the Middle East with just about any country in the Western world which legal system is geared to equalize the sexes and you know who comes out on top.
What’s more, the women who live under such strict gender norms where they are treated little better than chattel will run to non-Asian men who have more progressive ideas because they simply are treated better.
Keep treating your women wrong and there will be a reaping. You’ll turn around and they’ll be no one left to bully and berate as your most valued cultural resource gets with a white man.
