Ugh…videos like these are so frustrating. The report is framing the low numbers of black women dating interracially with resistance to date interracially. There’s a subtle message: Yes we’re single, but we’d rather die with alone with 1,000 cats than consider dating outside of our race. If you weren’t looking for it, you’d have missed it.
These women have it half right. They object to the notion that they should be dating felons, but are still holding out hope for their IBM unicorns.
I also find it pretty astounding that the “blackish” man they featured (who identifies as black but looks as white as my husband on summer vacation), is fretting over his daughter’s future because he wants her to be with a black man. But damn, bruh! It’s obvious that your existence is even possible because somebody, somewhere, wasn’t sleeping and procreating with a black person!
Gosh I wish I had their names and addresses. I’d send them all a copy of Swirling: How to Date, Mate and Relate, Mixing Race, Culture and Creed for free.
This issue is a prime example of WHY Beyond Black & White can’t simply be a site about black women dating interracially. IT’S IMPOSSIBLE. It’s also why it’s IMPOSSIBLE not to talk about how swirling black women are perceived by their peers, their community and black men. We HAVE to discuss how all this mess is related!!
