Regardless of whether or not you agree with Will and Jada’s liberal parenting skills you can’t deny that Willow Smith is one awesome young Black woman. Freedom and protection during childhood can help to cultivate creativity, individuality and a strong sense of self. These things are what makes Willow unique and has also landed her the cover of the upcoming Aug issue of Teen Vogue.
In Teen Vogue‘s August issue, the singer/actress opens up about her career, fashion sense, and outlook on life. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Willow on the big screen, and while her older brother Jaden Smith has continued to pursue his acting career, Willow chose to drop the screenplays and go back to middle school, opting out of the starring role in the highly anticipated remake of Annie with Jamie Foxx.
Between music, art, fashion, acting and being the child of high profile celebrities, it seems like there isn’t anything that young Willow won’t be able to do. When all the criticism is said and done, would you prefer to have a well rounded, thinking and aware daughter or one that is insecure and willing to do whatever is necessary in order to matter to folks that could care less? I’ll take the prior, and I will keep my eye on this dynamic Black woman in the making, will you?
