Ben Affleck and Zoe Saldana star in a movie called “Live By Night,” set to premiere January 14. Zoe Saldana is Afro Latina and Ben Affleck is Caucasian–was this a likely coupling in 1920’s America? Interesting that Hollywood paired these two–a black woman and white man–during a time in American when interracial couples were nearly nonexistent.

I like the representation of mixed couples on the silver screen as much as you all do, but should Hollywood be rewriting history? It’s very unlikely such a coupling would occur in 1920’s Boston during prohibition? Boston is historically ethnically segregated, less so, but this still persists into this century.
